Oh, Proverbs. The land of sayings, admonishments, warnings, and promises. How impossible it would be to follow all of the wisdom you impart to us. We daily fail to live up to our own standards, let alone the standards placed before us by the Bible (and, ultimately, Jesus Christ). It's exhausting to even think about the constant work it would take to never fail in any capacity. In fact, I'm just going to say it - IT'S IMPOSSIBLE. This is where Jesus comes in and saves the day. Better yet, He redeems us and the timeline of mankind. His work on the cross and His power over death (as seen in His resurrection) wipes away our sins and removes even the idea of good works as a means of saving ourselves. All we need is faith in Jesus Christ, and then good works will flow from us as a result of our faith. Sounds too simple, doesn't it? That's why it's so trippy to people today, in the past, and in the future.
How in the world did I extract this from Proverbs 21? I have verses 1, 2, and 30 copied below (the rest of the chapter is as described above "the land of sayings"):
(1) In the Lord's hand the king's heart is a stream of water that He channels toward all who please Him.
(2) A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart.
(30) There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.
If we place all of our hope, faith, and endeavours in God, how can we fail at anything? Yes, we'll have hard days. Yes, we'll have great days! Sometimes we'll feel directionless and lost. Some days we'll be filled with renewed vigor! Wherever the waves of life will take us, our hope needs to be in the Lord and the promises He has given us through His Son Jesus. If our hearts are aligned with His ways and please Him, then there is nothing that can succeed against us either.
