Here we are studying through proverbs- there is much to be said about each little verse or snip-it of wisdom! Today we are looking at Proverbs 7- I believe this is a chapter that plainly speaks to living a life in foolishness or confidence in recognizing the truth of God's word to combat any sin or temptation!
We need to live a life with direction!
"Follow my advise, my son; always treasure my commands. Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes" 7:1-2
Right from the get-go we are told to obey Gods commands- what are his commands?! Yes, we may first think of the 10 commandments in Exodus- which do underline The Lord's commands! But, not only are his commands in the Ten Commandments, THEY ARE WRITTEN ALL OVER HIS WORD! Now, that's exciting! We need to study God's word in order find direction in our lives!
With the chapter starting off and telling us to look to Gods word for direction- we are then given a warning. A warning of immorality, a warning of temptation, and a warning of how we may be vulnerable when we are unstable! While the story goes on to explain what happens when we are not grounded in Gods truth- we may look like fools-
Verse 22 states "He followed her at once, like an ox going to the slaughter. He was like a stag caught in a trap" THAT SUCKS! In v. 7 it states that he was a man who lacks common sense. Now, seeing how this situation played out, I hope it challenges us to recognize to not follow down the path of unrighteousness, or anything that may hinder our walk with The Lord!
"So listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words. Don't let your hearts stray away toward her. Don't wander down her wayward path" 7:24-35.
I hope we are all encouraged and challenged by this passage! I know it challenged me to keep "in check" with what I do or say day to day! Proverbs 7 speaks pretty much the exact opposite of what our society tells us today! It's ridiculous! With the way books, movies, music and media are today, all of the messages teach us more and more about immorality! My hope and prayer is that as we study God's word and truth(2 Timothy 2:15), we hold onto its teachings and proclaim its message(Proverbs 4:13)! May we continue to RUN from anything that is immoral, unrighteousness, or anything that does not bring honor to God! May we choose to not live a foolish life!May we recognize times when we are being led down a wayward path and just sprint the opposite way and run towards God's embrace!
Woof! With all that to say, prayer is powerful! May we pray for each other and be great encouragers of the faith!!

Amen Rynae! Thank you for writing this. It encouraged me to continue to chase after God.
